Summary:
To provide books to impoverished children in Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas. This grant was presented in conjunction with the Oprah's Book Club selection "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter" by Carson McCullers.
Working through existing preschool and after-school programs, First Book serves children living below the nation's poverty level by providing them the chance to read and own their first book.
