Summary:
To provide new books to reading programs, schools and libraries impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This grant was presented in conjunction with the Oprah's Book Club selection of books by Mississippi-native William Faulkner.
Working through existing preschool and after-school programs, First Book serves children living below the nation's poverty level by providing them the chance to read and own their first book.
